Rise of the Female Trader [Infographic]
Several years ago, female traders in the various stock markets all over the world seemed thin on the ground. However, as this infographic from City Index shows, that has changed considerably. A fourteen-fold rise in the number of female traders over the course of a decade is impressive, albeit from a low base, but women are becoming more visible in the world of trading, and not just in the bustling stock exchanges in London, New York, Frankfurt et al.
Today, people of all ages, genders, backgrounds and occupations can trade without having to make their way to a stock exchange. With the help of specialist apps and the internet, it’s possible to trade on the move or from home, which has made it easier for women with busy working lives to open an account and start trading. Aside from that, women are seen as being cooler under pressure when it comes to making big decisions, and that’s sometimes the case when making a trade.
